About g.fantasy
g.fantasy the league started in 2001 when a bunch
of friends decided to try something new. As the
internet grew, so did fantasy baseball. Nicholas Tzoumas, the
Commissioner, gathered up his closest of friends and
started a very basic league.
Everyone invited to play was a baseball fan and a student of the game;
therefore, fantasy
baseball seemed like something everyone would be interested in. The 10
team league started on AOL and was called GreekGuNz Fantasy
Baseball. Some of us had fantasy
experience, so it seemed like a fair and competitive league to begin
with. Naturally, we were all 'hooked' almost immediately and understood
the craze that was growing.
After the first fantasy season was over, we all decided that we'd do it
again, except be more serious and professional. We searched a bunch of
different websites that offered fantasy baseball besides AOL; we weighed
our options and felt that CBSSports.com seemed like it had a good
service.
Each year, all the owners got more and more into it and GreekGuNz
Fantasy Baseball began to have an edge over other leagues due to the
extreme competitiveness and the immense amount of trash talk. After the
second season, the commissioner, Nicholas Tzoumas designed a
supplemental website as a school project in college. It was an instant
success within the league and continued the following year under the
domain 'GREEKGUNZ.com'.
At the start of the third year, the league decided to expand to 12
owners. By the beginning of the fourth season, 'g.fantasy' was born.
Once the fifth year
came around, the league had 12 solid owners, 8 people on the waiting
list, a constitution and most importantly, the inaugural
season of g.fantasy's keeper league. Today, g.fantasy is a premier,
elite fantasy baseball league with a waiting list that continues to
grow.
